REV-UP develops integrated, modular solutions for Zero-Emission Buildings (ZEB), transforming buildings from energy consumers into active energy producers. The project focuses on innovative façade and envelope systems, renewable energy generation, storage, ventilation, and digital tools. The solutions are demonstrated in buildings across different EU climate zones and are made easily accessible through ZEB-KIT, a digital decision-support and planning tool developed within the project.
We coordinates the entire transnational consortium as well as the Austrian consortium and lead the REV-UP project. Furthermore we contribute to the development of ZEB concepts and integration requirements, we are also responsible for the development of the ZEB solution packages and the ZEB-KIT app, carrie out techno-economic, environmental and social assessments, and contribute to dissemination, exploitation and replication activities.

REV-UP addresses European climate and energy goals (Green Deal, Fit for 55, Renovation Wave) by developing integrated Zero-Emission Building concepts for both new construction and renovation. At the core of the project are modular, prefabricated façade and building envelope systems with integrated energy harvesting (BIPV, PV/T), dynamic U-values, thermal storage, and autonomous ventilation units. These technologies are complemented by a scalable ICT platform, digital twins, and AI-based control strategies to maximize self-consumption, flexibility, and energy efficiency.
The developed technologies are validated in multiple demonstration buildings across different European climate zones. Based on these results, ZEB solution packages are defined that address technical, economic, regulatory, and aesthetic aspects. A key outcome is the ZEB-KIT app, which supports decision-makers in selecting suitable solutions and empowers users to participate in energy markets as prosumers and flexumers. REV-UP thus promotes a holistic, scalable, and socially accepted transformation of the European building stock towards climate neutrality.
