Georg Jakopic has been Deputy Director of the MATERIALS Institute since 2010. He completed his degree in engineering physics at Graz University of Technology in 1996 and his doctorate in thin-film optics in 2000. In 1999, he joined the newly founded Institute for Nanostructured Materials and Photonics at JOANNEUM RESEARCH as a research assistant. In 2002, he took over as head of the Interfaces and Integration research group. From 2004 to 2008, he held the position of deputy institute director and from 2008 to 2010 that of operational institute director.
