About the person
Matthias Rüther is manager and director of the Institute for Digital Technologies at JOANNEUM RESEARCH. As an expert in computer vision and digital image processing, he worked in research and teaching after completing his doctorate at Graz University of Technology. He founded a company for large-format geodata processing and subsequently headed a research group focusing on image analysis and measurement technology at JOANNEUM RESEARCH DIGITAL. Since 2022, as institute director, he has been responsible for the strategic development of application-oriented research in the fields of intelligent sensor technology, measurement technology and digital data processing. His goal is to harness the innovative power of digital technologies for industrial and social value creation.
