Automated driving functions

For automated driving functions, we offer sensor solutions, sensor platforms as well as localisation and environment recognition solutions with active or purely passive solutions catering to both civilian and military requirements. For the validation of driving functions, we offer high-end GNSS/IMU/camera/LiDAR sensor platforms including validation.

Simulation using digital twins

The basis for the simulation and validation of automated driving functions is formed by the creation of complete and highly accurate spatial digital twins through the combination of various mobile recording systems and the automatic derivation of seamless, simulation-capable 3D reconstructions.

Life cycle analysis of drive systems

In the mobility sector, life cycle analysis is conducted to assess and evaluate everything from the production of raw materials to mobility services and vehicle/battery recycling. The drive systems of the future for private and public transport can be analysed and compared in terms of their environmental impact.

Optical simulation, design and prototyping

We offer partial and complete concepts for the design, simulation, optimisation and prototyping (state-of-the-art laser methods) of optical components for customised lighting solutions. Our portfolio includes cutting-edge optical tools and algorithms developed in-house for diffractive, refractive and extremely flat freeform optics.

Electronic design and prototyping

In our electronics and microfabrication laboratories, we develop customised prototypes, with a particular focus on LED lighting and sensor technology. Our development activities centre on circuit and system design and prototyping, supported by a high-precision die bonding platform.

Printing processes and printed electronics

We develop scalable and digital printing processes (including 3D printing of electronics) for the generative production of functional components. We cover every stage of the process chain: material development, substrate pre-treatment, optimisation of the printing strategy, post-treatment, characterisation through to hybrid integration of classic components.

Functional component coatings

We use functional coatings to enhance existing properties or add new functions: flow resistance, abrasion, antibacterial, conductivity, adhesion, etc. We offer numerous coating processes, such as digital printing processes, plasma and vacuum coating (PVD, PA-CVD) and atmospheric pressure plasma jet processes.

3D printing of metals and polymers

We develop innovative components that are significantly lighter but still exhibit the same good physical properties as conventionally manufactured components. This is made possible though additive manufacturing thanks to newly available design and simulation tools, as well as new materials and the implementation of special lattice structures.

Laser welding processes for e-mobility

Our strengths lie in laser welding, laser alloying and laser cladding, with a specific focus on materials expertise. We offer result-oriented process development up to series production readiness, including quality assurance. This includes batch production as well as the transition to volume production at the customer's facility.

Piezoelectric and pyroelectric sensors

PyzoFlex® technology comprises fully printed polymer sensors for detecting minimal changes in pressure and temperature as well as vibrations, along with signal processing and integration into various setups We develop customised solutions for a broad range of applications.
