We are working on making the use of sensor networks as reliable and cost-efficient as possible in the future.

The enormous development progress in the areas of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) is having a huge impact on nearly the entire industry, on many other sectors and therefore also on our daily lives. The ongoing digital transformation is enabling new types of services and opening up new business opportunities.
DeSSnet takes account of the major challenge this brings: using sophisticated wireless sensor networks to capture data, analyse it in real time and control complex processes on this basis is one of the greatest challenges for digital transformation in industry.
With a complementary consortium of globally active industrial partners and leading international research partners, DeSSnet covers the entire value chain of wireless sensor networks. DeSSnet focusses on selected future-oriented key enabling technologies for wireless sensors and communication, for security, reliability, interoperability and energy efficiency as well as for time-aware analytics with a special focus on the time dimension in applications and services.
The Innovation Lab tests the usability of reliable sensor networks (also in harsh industrial environments) in the following important application areas: Industrial process monitoring, maintenance and quality assurance in the process industry, industrial sensor systems in the automotive industry and maintenance of buildings.
DeSSnet establishes and supports the vision of the participating states of Styria and Carinthia as a core technology cluster for electronic components and systems in Austria with a leading global position.
The K-project DeSSnet is funded by the BMK, BMDW, Styria and Carinthia as part of the COMET - Competence Centres for Excellent Technologies programme. The COMET programme is managed by the FFG.
