From 10 to 13 March 2026, our AKUT® team was present at Intertraffic Amsterdam. This leading international trade fair is regarded as the key platform for infrastructure, traffic management, safety, parking and smart mobility, bringing together more than 900 exhibiting companies and trade visitors from over 145 countries.

At the JOANNEUM RESEARCH stand, Harald Rainer, Moritz Fišer and Franz Graf presented the acoustic AKUT® tunnel monitoring system. The solution uses artificial intelligence and microphones installed in the tunnel to detect critical incidents – such as accidents, tyre blowouts, doors slamming, tyres squealing, or even voices or screams – in less than a second, thereby enabling rapid responses in tunnel operations.

Taking part in Intertraffic provided us with an international platform to engage with experts from the fields of infrastructure, tunnel operations and traffic management, and to showcase the capabilities of modern safety solutions for tunnel facilities. In doing so, JOANNEUM RESEARCH highlighted the importance of data- and AI-driven technologies for a safe and efficient transport infrastructure.
