A delegation from the Czech state motorway and tunnel operator Ředitelství silnic a dálnic s. p. (ŘSD) visited JOANNEUM RESEARCH together with Aleš Lébl, Tunnel Safety Officer at the Czech Ministry of Transport. The aim of the visit was to foster an intensive professional exchange between ŘSD, ASFINAG, and the technology partners JOANNEUM RESEARCH and Powerdynax in the fields of information security, operations management, traffic management, and tunnel safety.
The first day focused on information security. Rudi Anhofer, Head of Information Security at ASFINAG, discussed with the Czech colleagues the structure of the IT systems used by ASFINAG and ŘSD as well as methods for ensuring information security.
On the second day, the delegation visited the regional traffic management centre Plabutsch. Martin Rapitsch, Head of Operations at ASFINAG, presented the newly equipped centre. Particular interest was shown in the implementation of ASFINAG’s new traffic management information system, VMIS-2. Further topics included operator-led traffic management, operator workload, different deployment scenarios in Austria and the Czech Republic, and the tunnel safety equipment used in both countries.
The visit highlighted the importance of international exchange for the further development of safe, efficient, and future-oriented transport infrastructure.
