The focus of our research is on investigating pharmacological principles in the skin and using them to provide effective and affordable treatment with minimal side effects to sufferers of dermatological conditions.

We are conducting research into the dynamics and pathologies of the highly complex network of metabolic pathways in order to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for various metabolic diseases including diabetes and obesity. Another focus is on the influence of metabolism on ageing processes.

Precision medicine – i.e. the move away from a one-size-fits-all approach towards individually customised therapies – requires powerful biomarkers for use in diagnostics. Metabolomics (the comprehensive analysis of metabolic intermediates) is a key technology with the ability to supply the necessary data for these biomarkers.

Our goal is to investigate the fundamentals of pharmacology in both healthy and diseased brains and use these insights to enable effective and tailored treatments for patients with neurological diseases. Glioblastoma, depression and the gut-brain axis are among the fields of application for this research.

We analyse low-volume samples from all biological matrices to determine PK/PD profiles and to support b iomarker research. We specialise in mass spectrometry and immunochemistry, developing analytical methods for complex analytes in accordance with GxP standards with ultra-high sensitivity and high sample throughput.

Our activities range from data management and statistics prepared in accordance with international standards, to protocol development and study reports: sample size, data management plan, eCRF, validated data interfaces, query management, medical coding, statistical analysis plan, SAS-programming, data conversion and statistical reporting.
