AKUT® makes tunnels in the Czech Republic safer

The AKUT® acoustic tunnel monitoring system will go into operation in Brno and Prague in 2023. The two city tunnels Pisarky and Blanka are thus the first pilot projects with the technology developed by the DIGITAL Institute in the Czech Republic.

Due to the increasing volume of traffic in Europe, tunnel safety is becoming an increasingly important issue. Czech motorway and tunnel operators are therefore also investing more and more in new safety equipment in order to detect critical incidents quickly and offer drivers maximum safety.

The company Powerdynax s.r.o from Brno has been our reliable sales partner in the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 2020. In March and April 2023, Rudolf Procházka was able to acquire orders from Powerdynax to equip two tunnels in the Czech Republic. AKUT® will thus make two city tunnels in the Czech Republic's two largest cities safer. The first AKUT system will be implemented in the Pisarky Tunnel, which is operated by the Czech state motorway operator ŘSD ČR. The Pisarky Tunnel is a 1,100 m long twin-tube tunnel in the city of Brno. The second project is being realised in the Blanka tunnel complex in Prague, which is operated by the City of Prague. The Blanka tunnel complex forms part of the motorway ring around Prague. It consists of several consecutive tunnels with a total length of 5,502 metres. This makes it the longest road tunnel in the Czech Republic and the longest city tunnel in Europe.
