Many children were eagerly looking forward to seeing what new things there were to discover.

Events such as the Long Night of Research play a key role in inspiring young people to take an interest in research and innovation.

The fascinating world of research

Visitors marvelled at the countless experiences, exhibits and experiments on offer in Styria and took the opportunity to glimpse the future and go behind the scenes of the world of research. Alongside all the region’s universities, research institutes, universities of applied sciences and teacher training colleges, numerous leading Styrian businesses were also represented as partners and exhibitors.

There was huge public interest not only in Graz, but also in Leoben, Kapfenberg and Weiz. Thousands of people took advantage of yesterday evening to gain a glimpse into research departments, laboratories and workshops that are not usually open to the public – for example at leading companies such as AVL, AT&S, Knapp, Andritz, Siemens and voestalpine.

Discussions

Those wishing to explore future-oriented issues in greater depth attended the panel discussions at the Science Talk in Graz’s Lendhafen. Across five thematic areas, leading experts from the worlds of science and research discussed key future-oriented topics such as energy and resources, the mobility of the future, and artificial intelligence. Petra Kotzbeck, Director of COREMED, took part as a panellist as more than 600 participants turned the Lendhafen into a key hub for exchange and knowledge transfer.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH was responsible for coordinating the LNF in Styria. As a company, JOANNEUM RESEARCH also had offices in Klagenfurt, Pinkafeld and Leoben.
