The project

The European Higher Education Sector Observatory is a central key action for the European Strategy for Universities (ES4U).The observatory brings together several existing EU data tools, like the European Tertiary Education Register (ETER), U-MULTIRANK, Erasmus+ database, the Database of External Quality Assurance Results (DEQAR), etc. Within the project, several tool will be developed and made available, e.g. a data centre for making data accessible for the public, a Higher Education Scoreboard in order to compare central indicators, a Benchmarking Tool for higher education institutions and an information tool for students in order to inform about study possibilities in Europe.

Our activities in the project

JOANNEUM RESEARCH is responsible for the development of the central infrastructure of the European Higher Education Sector Observatory, i.e. the EHESO data centre. Additionally, JOANNEUM RESEARCH coordinates the collection of official HEI statistics at national statistical authorities and ministries (former ETER).

Details of the project

The European Higher Education Sector Observatory is a central key action for the European Strategy for Universities (ES4U). It will focus on strengthening the European dimension in higher education research, supporting universities as lighthouses of the European way of life, empowering universities as actors of change in green and digital transitions and reinforcing universities as drivers of the global role and leadership of the EU. The observatory brings together several existing EU data tools, like the European Tertiary Education Register (ETER), U-MULTIRANK, Erasmus+ database, the Database of External Quality Assurance Results (DEQAR), etc. Within the project, several tool will be developed and made available, e.g. a data centre for making data accessible for the public, a Higher Education Scoreboard in order to compare central indicators, a Benchmarking Tool for higher education institutions and an information tool for students in order to inform about study possibilities in Europe.
