The project

INSPIRE aims to become Europe's sustainable centre of excellence, known worldwide for the quality of its research and analysis on gender equality in research and innovation. It brings together cutting edge research, ambitious strategic approaches and innovative practices to enable researchers, gender equality experts, practitioners and trainers to share experiences and knowledge, jointly develop new resources and strategically network with public and private organisations. In this way, the entire European Research Area should benefit from progress in the field of equality and inclusion.

Our activities in the project

POLICIES takes on central tasks within the consortium, such as the coordination and exchange of knowledge between the various Knowledge and Support Hubs. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, POLICIES also manages a Knowledge and Support Hub that deals with the integration of the gender perspective in innovation processes and innovation policies and thus aims to anchor gender equality in the research and innovation-oriented business enterprise sector. POLICIES will thus become an important hub of knowledge and practice for all research institutions in Austria that want to promote gender equality.

Details of the project

INSPIRE endeavours to capture gender equality in a multidimensional perspective and to develop needs-based approaches so that geographical and sectoral differences in the implementation of gender equality plans are taken into account as well as intersectional forms of inequality. This should enable a holistic view of the (re)production of inequalities as well as contextualised practices and solutions that are tailored to different framework conditions and factors.

The INSPIRE Centre of Excellence is organised into four thematically differentiated hubs that encompass knowledge production, translation of knowledge into resources and tools in the course of co-creation processes and support for specific communities of practice. The following topics are dealt with in the Knowledge and Support Hubs: Entry into gender equality work, sustainability and deepening of change processes, intersectionality and inclusive, gender-sensitive innovation processes.
