Designing innovation processes with diversity in mind, so as to systematically incorporate different perspectives into the development, decision-making and impact of innovations
INSPIRE Support Package 5, “Inclusive Gendered Innovation,” helps applicants and innovators systematically integrate gender, diversity, and inclusion into research and innovation processes.
The practical, step-by-step guide supports the entire project cycle—from idea development to dissemination and sustainability.
Many research and innovation projects have not yet sufficiently recognized that technologies, products, and research findings are not equally accessible, usable, or effective for different groups of people. This is precisely where the INSPIRE Support Package 5 comes in: It demonstrates how gender- and diversity-sensitive research and innovation can contribute to higher quality, better usability, and greater societal impact. Inclusive gendered innovation means treating gender, diversity, and inclusion not as an afterthought, but embedding them from the outset in research questions, methods, design decisions, and impact logic.
Step by step to inclusive research and innovation
INSPIRE Support Package 5 covers the entire project cycle: from the initial idea and proposal submission through analysis, concept development, and implementation to dissemination and sustainability. It offers practical guidance, key questions, methodological suggestions, and examples of how to involve different target groups, implement inclusive data collection and analysis, and communicate results in an accessible and discrimination-sensitive manner. In this way, the product specifically supports individuals who are preparing grant applications or seeking to make research and innovation projects more inclusive.
