Valuation systems and selection mechanisms

Avoiding bias in evaluation policies, processes and practices as a service for research and funding organisations

Why reflect valuation systems?

Evaluation criteria are central to evaluation systems and selection mechanisms. To ensure that the best are selected, criteria must be constantly developed and adapted to current social developments and discourses. Key challenges such as the endeavour to increase the inclusion of broad sections of the population in research and innovation, social missions or the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are leading to a rethink of previous notions of excellence and how this can be assessed. Initiatives such as the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) or the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) are examples of these developments.

What do we offer research and funding organisations?

The establishment of new evaluation systems and selection mechanisms requires a systematic questioning of previous approaches, processes and practices. We support you in improving your guidelines and processes with regard to bias and inclusion, developing new criteria and procedures and establishing them sustainably in your organization.
