Scientific research in the field of mobility modelling/mobility research

To support our successful team at our Institute LIFE, we are looking to fill the following position starting on 1st May 2026 based in Klagenfurt (or Graz):

€ 4.056,- gross per month, payable 14 times per year (pro rata)

Your responsibilities will include following areas:

  • participation in and leadership of smaller national and international research projects focusing on transport modelling and mobility research
  • contribution to the development of methodologies relating to agent-based mobility modelling (MATSim)
  • analysis of mobility planning issues using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • contribution to the preparation of research proposals and the acquisition of new projects
  • presentation of project results for internal and external partners

Your qualifications:

  • a keen desire to help shape the mobility transition
  • a university degree with solid training in transport science, mobility modelling or mobility management
  • experience in transport modelling and geographic information systems (QGIS)
  • an analytical understanding of geographical and spatial relationships, as well as the fundamentals of transport planning
  • enjoyment of teamwork, but also of working independently, creatively and proactively to address issues
  • good organisational and communication skills as well as excellent written and spoken German and English skills
  • very good computer skills

  • a fair and market-aligned salary of € 4.056,- gross per month, payable 14 times per year (pro rata), based on the collective bargaining agreement for employees in non-university research — adjusted to regional labor market conditions – a competitive salary above the collective agreement is a given for us, depending on professional experience and qualifications
