Abstract:
Austria faces a growing challenge of increasing life expectancy but fewer healthy life years compared to Europe. Despite awareness of health promotion and prevention (HPP), there is limited motivation and structural support to actively engage in preventive measures. Most HPP initiatives are fragmented, lacking structured data utilization from health and lifestyle apps. The PreNUDGE project aims to increase healthy life years through evidence-based health promotion and the use of nudging strategies to encourage healthy behaviors and individual responsibility. The project will create a comprehensive digital ecosystem where citizens’ health data are collected via trusted apps, structured into standardized health profiles, and made accessible for primary and secondary use by healthcare providers, public health organizations, and researchers. This will empower personalized health interventions, enhance public health monitoring, and foster a shift toward preventive healthcare in Austria. Additionally, a qualification process for health apps will ensure data trustworthiness and privacy.
