Virtual tour of the rooftop garden

JOANNEUM RESEARCH LIFE is a project partner in the HORIZON 2020 project REGREEN, which started in 2019. Under the leadership of Arhus University, "Nature Based Solutions" (such as façade greening, urban gardens, etc.) are developed and implemented in the form of selected use cases.

Under the leadership of Andreas Türk, LIFE is responsible for the development of replicable business models and the modelling of urban heat islands.

The Smart City Rooftop Farming project at the Science Tower Graz was also presented during a virtual three-day meeting of more than 30 international REGREEN project partners organised by LIFE in March. The Rooftop Farming project coordinated by LIFE is groundbreaking for the future use of urban rooftop areas and also met with great interest among the REGREEN partners.

Franz Prettenthaler, Director of LIFE gave a virtual tour of the rooftop garden and underlined the importance of sustainable food production on urban rooftops as an essential integrative solution for cities to adapt to climate change.
