Research areas
COREMED is engaged in medical research as well as related disciplines. COREMED has deliberately positioned itself as an interface between medicine and technology focusing mainly on the user’s point of view and society’s long-term benefit.
- Wound healing and scarring
- Acute and chronic wounds
- Hypertrophic scars and keloids
- Testing and further development of dressing materials and skin replacement products (e.g. for the treatment of burns)
- Skin ageing
In addition, translational (skin) models are developed and tailored according to the respective cooperation partners and research question, e.g. to test new therapies.
Another important cornerstone are clinical tests in collaboration with the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Medical University of Graz of, among other things, dressing materials, medical products and products from the cosmetic industry.
The strong interconnectedness of the research topics and projects of COREMED and the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery guarantees the high translational aspect of all results.
